Hats Off Movement Honors and Supports Essential Workers

During this COVID-19 pandemic, the health, safety and lives of all continue to depend on brave essential workers, including health care providers, grocery store workers, police and fire, delivery drivers and many more.

Many people have felt a deep calling to do something in appreciation of those on the frontlines. That’s why today, the Hats Off movement is launching to provide opportunities for every person and every community to honor essential workers, acknowledge their sacrifices and unite in solidarity with them until there is a cure.

Inspired by the simple expression of tipping one’s hat — an act of recognition, respect, acknowledgement and gratitude — the Hats Off movement encourages everyone, regardless of demographics, to honor and support essential workers.

Watch the Hats Off video featuring the voice talents of Conrad Ricamora from How to Get Away with Murder to learn more about the movement. Then share it across your social media channels using the hashtag #hatsoff. Create your own Instagram tribute video (#hatsoff) taking your hat off in support of a specific individual or group of essential workers in your life. Or display a hat in your front window, porch or on your mailbox until we find a cure.

The movement’s website (hats-off.com) includes downloadable graphics featuring every type of hat imaginable. Pick a hat that best reflects your personality and change your social media profile picture to it in solidarity.

To see more examples of ways communities have delivered a virtual hats off, follow the movement on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok or YouTube, or through the hashtag #hatsoff.

15 and 30-second Hats Off Public Service Announcements are also available for download and use by media outlets.

Ultimately, essential workers deserve more than a thanks. That’s why AMF Media Group and the Armanino Foundation have joined in to provide grants to support those on the frontlines. Donations can be made to the Armanino Foundation COVID-19 Relief Fund. The Armanino Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization (EIN 81-2649898) and all donations are tax-deductible.
